I am going to have to have my hubby ride with me to the meet point cause I only have a permit not a license but he has been instructed to go away once we meet (and to cook dinner ). I actually take my MSF course the 26th and 27th....my hubby is a good teacher tho and I have been riding a while. I am no leader material though!

Maybe you gals can just rotate your ride starting points after getting regular group going. That way if someone can't make it this time because they live too far South they can always join in when the next ride is near them.

If you leave from the NW side I have a friend, Desi, who I'd like to go. I was planning on riding with her to the meeting point to introduce to Patricia (since she's the only I know in this bunch) and then taking off.

Oh, and if the bluebonnets are still out, then the shortest route I sent you (called Bluebonnet route) goes right through some real pretty areas and it's only about 250 miles round trip from the 290 and Huffmeister area. But it keeps cutting back to major highways in case you need to break off sooner and go home.

Have fun.

That is pretty much what was in mind when starting this thread. A nice ride out away from stop signs, traffic and everything. Since some girls insist on going to the beach, the idea came up of having a south and a northside ride. Any girl can chose any group and I am sure we'll all meet eventually. I doubt this will be the last all-girl ride, considering the high interest.

Someone asked why I don't lead, easy answer, I ride slow; which hopefully the ride will stay within speedlimit +10-15mph either way.

Although the West/NW route is a good idea, this weekend is the BP150 ride from Houston to Austin. They take many of the same backroads as we do, so it would be a crazy mess trying to get around them and there would be traffic enforcement the entire way.

Sorry, I thought it was the other Patricia (screen name Patricia) that wanted the ride posted.

You can download the BP MS 150 route here. http://www.ms150.org/ms150/maps/2007/07_tour_map.pdf

They usually head out 529 to Bellville, etc. If you guys head out NW on on 290 and up 362 you have plenty of options to avoid them by quite a bit. Good luck.

Ah, just one little part. :icon_smil Just on a sidenote, I went across it once and around it once and it offers some nice roads to Hwy6 and back to FM362 or you just take it easy for the four miles. :icon_bigg

I've ridden on the gravel too, but Patricia's right. It's only for a small patch and there are plenty of great roads that cut back and forth between 362 and highway 6. You can zig-zag between those on roads like 1736, 2979 and split off from 6 onto 1297 up to 3090 in Navasota and have more fun.

I want to say that the gravel is from Whitehall on 362 up to 105 but can't remember for sure.

It doesn't bother me that much either; but since there are a couple noobs posting on here I was trying to be considerate...

But it's really a moot point, since it looks like what started out to be lets take a easy ride in the country turned into lets rail on down to the beach and eat and shop.....

And 3090 is steadily getting worse.. turning into a dirt bike road these days.

No problem and true. No point in discussing it any longer. Decision was made.
