Crf80 motard

My sister has a crf80 and she wants to run tmgp sometime in the near future. I was just wondering is it worth it to put some 12 inch wheels or should I just choke up and try to find an xr100 and put 17 inch wheels on it? Any thoughts?

The XR80 isnt much different than an XR100. Slightly smaller chassis, and I could be mistaken but I think just the top end is different from the XR100. You can lace up wheels for it and get some good rubber. I dont know what is available in the way of rear shocks and front fork upgrades but there are probably some pit bike shocks out there the correct length for it. If you do some checking around you can probably make an XR80 work just fine.

Would 17 inch wheels even fit on an 80 or would it be 12s or 14s

Again, I COULD be wrong but im pretty darn sure 17's are not fitting on a CRF80. 12s are very capable tires tho. Dunlop TT93s stick very well well on our tracks.
