Women vs Men Riders

Not to start anything sexist, but purely a scientific discussion. Do men have a evolutionary advantage when it comes to operating Machinery, i.e. Motorcycles in this case?

I would say right off the bat our increased size and strength gives us an advantage. Now for ability to ride safely and such can it be quantified? Ive met lots of female rides, but im met loads of male riders who are tons more skilled. Is it because there is more male riders that we can see a true representation, are we equal in skill level? Or are females actually better?

What do you guys think?

In terms with strength, yes men do have the advantage. Whether one is better than the other depends how much effort they put out to ride/be better.

The only advantage for men is the following. Men carry most of their mass in their upper body as opposed to women who carry most of their mass in their lower body. That being said a man moving his upper body down to lower the center of gravity while cornering would have a greater effect than a woman.

I think that us guys are just more daring and dangerous and will put ourselves in danger or harms way to feel that rush we seek. And also we dont think of the consequence . Or what if factor in the heat. Of the moment. Women are more level headed and wont risk injurying themselves or get caught up in the moment . They look at the big picture and how things will or could play out

Women are documented to have smaller brains... Er'body knows that.

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/...-womens-brains

Quote:
FACT 1 Menís brains are bigger

Men do have bigger brains than women, even taking into account their larger bodies. This has been documented time and again. To take just one example, Sandra Witelson and her colleagues weighed the brains of 58 women and 42 men post-mortem and found the womenís were 1248 grams on average, compared with 1378 grams for the men. Note, thereís an overlap between the sexes, so some women will have larger brains than some men. A Danish study of 94 brains published in 1998 estimated that the larger male brain volume translated into an average 16 per cent greater amount of neurons in the neocortex of men versus women.

FACT 2 There are differences in the size of individual brain structures

The hippocampus, a structure involved in memory, is usually larger in women; the amygdala, a structure involved in emotional processing, is larger in men. Itís also true that the cortical mantle (made up of grey matter) is thicker in women, and that women tend to have a higher ratio of grey to white matter (white matter being the kind of brain cells that are insulated). However, itís important to note that these differences may have more to do with brain size than with óin other words it could be that smaller brains tend to have a higher ratio of grey matter, and it just happens that women tend to have smaller brains.

Im atgatt myself , im just saying that my helmet wont save me any if a pickup truck barrells over me and drags me a few yards on the pavement. Women arent as risky as we are . We go out there geared up and knowing the risk we take turning the key and throwing our leg over the bike. Women just wont ride to prevent the chance of ANYTHING happening

Circuit Racing- Men because of strength advantage, tossing the bike around with centrifugal force.

Drag Racing- Women, because they have a quicker synapse sequence = faster reaction times.
There was a study about NHRA on this. I'll have to see if I can find it.

They also usually have a good weight advantage. On bikes it make a world of difference

Women advantages: Lower center of gravity, no jewels so they can get closer to the tank, and then there's the whole "left right tank" thing that the Leather & Lace girls preach!

Probably a combination of D) All of the above.

And just because men have larger brains, doesn't mean they use them to their full capabilities

In general, men are better at seeing things in the distance due to their hunter-gatherer past chasing animals, while women are better focusing on things at close range.

I'd say on average, men are typically more coordinated, from my experience. Not saying there aren't a few women out there that wouldn't give a room full of men a run for their money, but I know I grew up riding bmx, skateboarding, rollerblading, gymnastics, martial arts, swimming/diving, track/field, amongst MANY other things. All the females I knew that where into sports remained in 1 particular activity, and seldom continue once out of the scholastic arena. Perhaps we are just more familiar with extreme activities due to exposure.

i am gonna say no simply due to the physicality of MoToGP.

I think many women possess the skill to ride a GP BIke fast...being competitive requires a level of strength and endurance that is not in a woman's wheelhouse.
