Best Helmet in the Rain

Let try to keep it simple here. Rode in the rain for the first time and my leaky helmet made it difficult to navigate. So my question is ... If you ride in the rain .. what helmet do you wear and does it function well during rainy commutes.

I am wearing a HJC CL-16 ... first helmet on a budget but seeing I need to upgrade based on it leaks (read other review on line saying the same) and want better ventilation / less road noise.

I ride in a Shoei RF-1100 rain or shine.
Ventilation and Less road noise wouldn't go together though. Usually achieve ventilation through holes... which sound would travel in. get ear plugs.

Put your head behind the windshield, and gas it! The faster you go the drier you will be.

Never had water get into the helmet before. Was it coming through the visor or one of the vents?

This..... Worn Arai corsair v, down to a bell arrow with no issues 30 degrees to 100+ with no windscreen. Even wore a hjc cl-16 in the rain with no issues. Did you close off all vents? Only issue I ever had was fogging in supper hot/cold + rain

All I have ever owned is SevenZeroSevens and Shoei RF-1100s... that is a pretty wide gap in price point and never had a leak...

I've ridden in several bad rain storms this year with my Bell Star with no issues.
More than half of those were on the XR which has no windscreen at all.

I've ridden with my HJC Symax III Modular helmet in the rain with no issues as well. the Pinlock with anti-fog lens also helps keep the lens from fogging up in the rain. Also have an Arai Corsair and that also works fine but i dont have a pinlock visor for it so i rather use my HJC in the rain.

All I have are Scorpions EX-400s and they don't vent for which would probably explain why they don't leak either. No leaks around the visor either.

Ok so I bought an rpha10 ... The light smoke shield is that good for sun and night? I have a dark smoke on my cl16 and I can't see at night. Besides wearing sunglasses can you put an inner dark shield in a RPha10?

Yes, you can use a dark smoke tinted pinlock insert.

Have the Shoei Gt Air. Ridden in quite a few rain storms and even hail once... No leaks in the vents or the face shield.

As far as visor tint.. maybe you should look into a transition visor if you don't want to get a new helmet. Mine all have the flip down sun visors inside the helmets.

I got my RF-1200 a couple months back and I'm extremely happy with it. No leaks at all commuting during rainy season. Really quiet too.

Were your vents open or something?

I've used ICON lids and Scorpions in the past with out any issues.

Currently wear a Bell but not sure on the model. Will check when I get home

You know ... its a good possibility . My vents stay open all the time because its normally fricken hot ... or my shield is fogging up so the vents just stay open. Never really thought about that. Plus I had an issue (which Patrick @ Motorcycles Unlimited fixed) with the quick connect system on the CL-16 and the shield has never really sealed that well. Never bothered me till the rain that day. I never planned for it to be anything but a starter helmet ... just never really played with it to adjust. Now that it will be a back up .... I plan on playing around with it.
