Need advice...Got my car rearended

Best regards team:

Yesterday while returning from the office got rearended...!!!! Going southeast on Hempstead Rd and Clay Rd. When the light turned green and was ready to turn right on Clay Rd. got hit. The other guy was driving 96 Ford Bronco modified with the suspension very high...kinda those monster trucks. He did not stop and just pass me and turn right on Clay Rd. I follow him and he stop. He got out of his truck and start to apologize, I asked him (very polite) for his insurance information, he gave me a copy of his insurance card but it was expired..!! (02/15/2005-03/17/2005) He explained that he pays his insurance month by month and the latest was at home, I call my insurance company GEICO and they write down all the information and got a claim number, they explained that his liability insurance will cover the damage, the other guy hand me his drivers license and I write down the number, but forgot to verify the address with the one in the insurance card, he also gave me his phone number and left 'cause he mentioned that he was on his way to pick-up her daughter. I sayed OK I have all your information. The only damage was to the trunk so I drive back home and call his Insurance company but it was already closed. So I call today in the morning at 9:00 and gave them all the information and guess what...???? He does not have any insurance at all....!!!!!!!! Call his phone number and I got a record that the number is out of service....!!!!

What to do now...????? Do I look for him at his address and demand my $500 deductible...???? Any ideas ideas/advice will be really appreciated.

Thanks

Here are pictures of the damage:

Re: Need advice...Got my car rearended

look him up and make sure you know where HE lives or the truck is registered to. if he doesnt want to pay you file a police report.

did you have liability or full coverage?

do you have a license plate number or a legit DL license #?

Re: Need advice...Got my car rearended

Well...I went to the Police Station as you advised and the Police report is completed and was classified as "minor accident" not "hit & run" 'cause the guy provide his license number, phone (not in service any more) and a (expired) insurance card, Police mentioned that there's nothing they can do and let the insurance deal with this guy (if they can find him).

I have full coverage, forgot to wrote down his plate numbers but got his license number.

Also the car is already at the shop and I guess I'm out of pocket $500. I'm not upset any more. Karma will get him......What goes around, comes around.

Yeah....I guess...but even if I get/find his real address I can not go to his place a demand the money...that will be considered "invasion of privacy" I can get sued...I'll try to find all the information about this guy and give it to my insurance company.

same thing happened to me on the way back from galveston. I got the guys address and license number and license plate number. but no insurance. phone was incorrect. im in the whole 500 plus the increase in insurance. i was thinking of filing a small claims court, because the total damage was $5400 plus the deductable. but i dont know yet. dad saying to let it go, like zapata said, but it just u off on the inside.

Not a bad idea, but first we will have to check if the wife is worth a good .......I doub it...the guy was kinda "redneck" type.

Then i guess we should handle it REDNECK style (or cajun style) and follow him out of his driveway wait for him to stop at a stop sign somewhere and BEAT THE $500 (+ interest of course) out of him. right:
