My Honda 1980 CM400e stolen in the Heights

It happened in the last few hours, on the corner of Cortlandt and 14th st... It's just gone. Was parked on the street, Black 1980 CM400e... Registration sticker was expired, would the cops just tow it or what? Otherwise I don't know what to do other than file a police report...

If parked illegally, yes it could've been towed. Check for signs in the area (No parking street signs, adjacent apt complex "will tow...." signs).

Also, if you call cops and report stolen, they should have record of it being towed to tell you who to contact.

EDIT: What I MEANT to say, was check those signs for a phone # to call, or a towing company name to check with.

Towed for expired registration???? As far as I know, POLICE aren't allowed to tow an unoccupied vehicle with an expired registration even though it is parked on the public roadway.

Unfortunately...

They made a mistake when I was reporting the vehicle stolen, they said it came up in their system but it was a mistake. Honda is still out there somewhere probably being stripped down and parted out. Shitty.

no i was rolling without registration and insurance, just expired. I came down on that thing from Iowa, epic road trip on a little 1980 400 twin... i bought it for 500 bucks a couple summers ago. for the cash I feel like whatever, but its more sentimental than anything. I was planning on keeping that bike my whole life... At least I know I can probably pick up another one for dirt cheap...

You never know... my bike turned up being ridden around WEEKs about being stolen. No theft insurance, so no payout, so the impound lot called me.
Than again... it was ~$500 to get it out (towing + days of storage before they called me). So unless you find it yourself, consider it a lost cause. :/
