Unhappy Slight ping in motor?

Would anyone know what could be wrong if you hear a slight ping in the motor? If you were to just barely give the bike throttle, you would hear it as the motor initially revs. Almost rough feeling...

I havent the slightest idea what this could be... especially on a '06 bike with only 11k on the motor....

Any idea guys??

Check the plugs. 11k only but if those are hard miles then I recommend changing plugs anyways. Cheap insurance. I am not sure if bikes are the same way but I usually run copper plugs in all of my cars. That way if the motor detonates badly it will just eat up the plug instead of blowing the electrode off and having it bring armageddon to your motor.

Bad tank of gas. Put in a gallon of race fuel.. 104, 110, it doesn't matter. If the ping goes away, then you just got a bad tank of gas.

My guess is the plugs since you said you have it at half throttle. Bad tank of gas usually just pings at WOT when you're under full load. The stock ECU's have many different maps that it runs and it can compensate, unless you have a PCIII on the bike.. then that's a different story.

If you need a valve adjustment you wouldn't hear a ping from that. You would hear slight tapping that increases with RPM and power would be down across the board.. not just a slight rough feeling.
