Pictures of Ride Smart TD @ TWS (Texas World Speedway) on 4/7

Sorry for the delay in pictures..but it took some time to gather up all the pictures from the 3 pretty CWs.

Enjoy..

1st - just to show you guys how wet and cold it was:

Its really unkool when your in a nice corner leaning and all of a sudden the puddle of water slows your bike down or jeers the steering..(on the R6 ofcourse).
Notice the depth of the water puddle.

I was sliding all over the track - in a controlled fun way. This is probably the only moment that i thought i kinda lost it & wished i had rain tires..:laughing6

PS: The Temp was probably below 30 deg at those speeds. At stand still the cars were showing from 35-37 deg.

We fought the elements of Rain, Wind, Wet Conditions, Cold Conditions - and Sleet! From Turn 3 to Turn 13ish.. Where for like half an hour it was soo bad that the bike would just slide towards one direction even on a lil straight!

Still overall - i would call it one of the best track days of my life..

I've got vid of the 6 or so riders that went out after lunch all coming through the horseshoe. Not surprisingly, you're dead last....

I'll try uploading it again later tonight. Google Vid was denying it on Sunday when I tried.

More than likely, you and Ty had already gone around and were about to lap the rest - but it still looks funny on vid for the two of you to be dead last like that.

What was the name of Ty's teammate #5 that you were telling me about?

Ok folks, more pics are up from a friend of mine that hung out in T10 during the morning.

Take a look and see if you or your bike made the cut.

(Two galleries, look through both)

How about some details on what kind of tires you were using out there. The pressure you were running at these tempatures and how they felt. Also, where you changing your lines to dodge the puddles or bombing them? What kind of stuff did you and Ty work on in these kind of conditions?

I was on Pilot Powers. Started off running with 28 FR & 29 RR, but as the day progessed i played a little with the pressures and i noticed i liked the handling at 24 FR & 26 RR. I have no idea why it felt better? But it just did.

On the R6 i would change the lines to avoid the puddles as i could, but sometimes the puddles would come up to quick, i usually look pretty far ahead in the corner (kinda like towards the exit), and would sometimes be unable to do anything when in a corner and a nice lean - all of a sudden the puddle would make me slide slightly , too late to do anything so i would just ride it out.

Specially turn 1, at over 120 mph ( in those conditions ), when you enter, its hard to keep your eyes on the ground to avoid puddles, so i would just ride it out.

Ty Howard and me worked on rain riding. Way too long to discuss here, but too summarize, its all in your head. Just trust your tires and go at it (he had rains though - i had Pilot Powers).

Some other stuff we worked on was, braking points & marking points on the track. We also working a little on how the should lean and upper body lean can effect the bike aswell in a corner.

We did'nt work on lower body positioning or my arms - he said i was fine there.

He showed me some lines on the track to take (rain conditions), and had me follow him for a couple laps - shaving off a second every lap, i think we started off slow @ maybe 2:10s, but after a couple laps i just could keep up.

When we stopped i asked him what lap times we were doing, he said "No Idea but its f@cking cold!" :laughing6

The conditions for Friday are looking alot better. It is only at 40 - 50% and the high will be around 80 degrees. So, any scatterd showers we may get will dry alot quicker but lets hope for even better then that. :icon_bigg
