If you like to party + enjoy being around drunks and pirates I mean bikers go for it. I stopped riding to it and instead drive a cage up to the strand and park in the garage

It is a lot of fun to watch people revving and acting like clowns

DO NOT DO A BURN OUT and get caught, the popo love to take folks to jail for that.

Only you can answer that.

But there are thousands of people who think it is worth their time.

I heard not to go if you ride a sport bike, instead of a Harley. True?

Nah. There is plenty of ss bikes. There really isn't much to it though. I used to like to hang and the end and watch Harley riders pushing their overheated down the road. They don't like to be reved to redline for several blocks.

Not true, But that being said, once you've been there, you've been there.. Granted I would love to go this year but am stuck in Maryland again.

If anything it's amusing and cringe worthy to watch other fellow riders destroy their engines...Because you know, Redlining an engine for a block is good for it, also good for people watching--don't try and buy any gear or T-Shirts unless you're a Sons of Anarchy fan or ride a Harley, Other then that--It's pretty interesting, IF NOT just for an excuse to ride the whole Island.

How's the traffic getting across the bridge? Many years back I tried going and turned around by the time I got to the strip clubs on the north bound side because it was a walking pace from there on.

I'm heading down there maybe early Sat afternoon, cage+trailer w. a bike. Staying down the island on Pirates' Beach, then (weather permitting) riding up to the Strand later.

Hope it's not too cold... gf doesn't have much insulation.

Better to get down there before noon. The cops are worst between Webster and Texas City

Go if you have never been. Be prepared to have a cramp in your left hand from all the clutch work. Interesting place and fun to people watch. I ride with the big group every year and turn off before the causeway. Dont like big crowds very much anymore.

You see EVERY type of bike there, not just cruisers.

I'm thinking I won't take my Buell down the strand... it has a fan, but that comes on well after my /right leg catch fire. Maybe, depends on crowded... it's really not that bad before the evening partying starts.

Strongly dependent on when you go. I rode straight to the street along the cruise ship docks... then it slowed because of people parking, hopping curbs, and spectators walking around. Friday evening will be bad... Saturday afternoon/evening even worse.

Yes, cops along any route there and back. Don't act stupid or drink too much. And watch out for those that are acting stupid or drank too much.

If you go with a group it's worth it. Alone won't be fun at all
