If that kid falls. It won't hurt me. Live and let live. It's not the law to wear anything.

My guess is that, it is against the law for a kid on a motorized vehicle.

I never wore a helmet growing up. Not on go karts, dirt bikes, mopeds, skateboards, or bicycles. But after having probably 2 dozen concussions, stitches in my head 5 or 6 times, and a fractured skull (sledding of all things) I won't let my daughter ride anything with wheels without one and if she never wants to ride anything with two wheels I won't be mad.

I'd be willing to bet no gear is FAR more common than wearing gear... at least anywhere these are "toys" and not motorcycles.
As a kid, doubt I would've worn anything. After riding motorcycles, and wrecking bicycles, I think my opinion might change. I've only wrecked a motorcycle once... Jr high, target fixated while riding a trail bike and hit a curb... glad my friend's parents made us wear helmets. My head CREAMED that "house for sale" sign .

I still want a mini-bike, just don't know where I'd ride it, and would probably get bored with it.

I used to ride/jump bicycles faster and do more dangerous than that when I was a kid....without a helmet. Was it SAFE? No. I just hate how we are trending in this dept.

no , we had "jumps" across the Beltway. probably 1500 feet of small hills and jumps...it was gnarly, always found someone's mags out there too....all this bicycle helmet wearing rules me off.....but, then again we have parents putting kids on mini bikes in asphalt parking lots with no helmets...catch 22 I suppose.

shes gonna be a raiser

I'd let mine do that only with a helmet and some pads.

Sure, I didn't wear helmets.
I was that kid jumping my bike over a gasoline burning wagon...

Nor did I use ear protection when I was a kid.

Now my ears ring all the time.

Aside from the dirt trails, we has a ply wood ramp that we rigged out of jackstands and firewood... we would see how many trash cans we could jump over. And it's not that we didn't have helmets... they were required for BMX racing, Also had the leathers and padded jersey. Just never wore them off the track.

My son knows he doesn't ride unless he has his gear on. I have seen him smack his head on the ground at least 3 times with his Helment on, he didn't even cry, just got up and kept riding. He's three an has rode without training wheels since he was two. Did I wear a Helment ? No, is it safer and more responsible as a parent to make your kid, sure. No one wants to see their kid hurt, so why not take precaution. Do I give a if someone else's kid has one on, not really.
