Mandatory bike swaps added to MotoGP!

http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2013/r...ip+island+race

Holycrap, No more than 14 laps are permitted now on one rear tire. And they are required to run the hard rear.
I wonder if this makes it more competitive for the non factory teams with not as good electronics and traction control. Either way should be interesting to watch.

Only for this race Whoop! The track has been resurfaced and both Bridgestone and Dunlop have misjudged tire wear. On 'safety' grounds they are saying that Moto2 shortened to 13 laps (as most competitors have just the one bike) and MotoGP will have one compulsory stop no later than lap 14 where they will be allowed to swap to their 'wet' bike fitted with slicks for this occasion only!

Not sure how I feel about this because it will get rid of the battle at the front imo unless the leading riders pit in at the same time. Or am I missing something here.

This is the so called pinnacle of our sport!!! It wasn't resurfaced last week (it was December)! How hard would it have been to send a test rider or two to do full race simulations.

Indy gets resurfaced for next season too... they anticipate issues with that as well.

Blistering lap times though! Eclipsed Stoner's lap record by 1.5 seconds?

First 14 laps racing to a delta. After that its a sprint to the finish.

What sucks is a rider can enter the pits in 1st place and have swapping issues and leave the pits in 10th place!

This is what C Edwiards had to say: "Not happy with the [Marc Marquez black flag] decision. First time running this scenario & disqualified. We r not mathematicians... let us race & F off."
