SHNF Ride Sunday 10/20

About three of us are going to ride Sam Houston National Forest on sunday. We have all ridden it once. Hoping its not too muddy and that everything is open. Anyone have any idea? I know there is a number to call to find out. Post up here if you're interested in going and we can talk logistics.

Sooo.... Just called the ranger number and SHNF is closed due to lack of government funding until further notice. Ah, I hate the government.

I do know that they suck at updating their asnwering service....I hope that its wrong but thats a hellavu haul if they are still closed.....

I dont know any places to ride trails other than maybe Rio Bravo which is a MX park.....

There is another off road place near the forest that is private land but you have to be a member....forget the name of it

was out at the east side yesterday and rode the north loop against my will....it was pretty muddy but not to bad. The north loop has those huge holes that have loads of water for weeks after the rain. Everywhere else was perfect...the sand was compacted and the weather was AWESOME!!!

Sounds like it was perfect. I can't wait to to kill the natural terrain.

Those holes will get you both in the wet and dry conditions.

I like trying to drop into them and berm them in a few holes in slights corners.

We had a great time. We parked at Kelly's Pond and rode the trails around it. Some deep mud puddles but overall great.
