I asked if I could put the old parts back on...no deal. He said it was safe to ride though. I really wasn't having any issues but wanted to play it safe. Well, it's really not safe now. I don't like the stock levers and I was thinking of going to talk to Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited to see if he can see what the problem is. Dang it!!!

That doesnt make sense. The lever should not affect how it brakes. I guess i am not taking my bike in for the RECALL

Yes this is confirmed. So now I have aftermarket levers too.. I don't see how that even matters. What all does the recall replace besides the master cylinder?

Sounds like they didn't bleed it properly. I have CRG levers and I don't have any issues my new MC.

Man so I'm just barley getting my MC replaced at Stubbs off 59 and beltway 8, which part of mancusco now BTW. Anyways I haven't done the recall till now but the wouldn't order part unless bike was there. Said it be about a week till they receive. So left my bike there. Sucks I wanna ride this week, gonna be a nice week from the looks of the forecast.

Haven't done the MC switch but judging by this thread every dealership in Houston is crappy.

Anyone have a positive experience yet?

I got the recall letter few monthes back and immediately took my '05 GSXR 750 to Tejas Motorsports in the Highlands. They promply took care of it without any BS! They have always given me good service.

man!!!! this Friday will be 3 weeks that Stubbs off 59 and the beltway have my bike for the MC recall. called them earlier and they have no time frame of when the MC will be in. they said they have called Suzuki to get an ETA and they were told the part is on back order and they are not sure when or how much longer it will be before they receive the MCs. this is complete BULLSHIT!!! they will not release my bike to me till after recall has been done. IM !!!

I'm sure you could sign a waiver stating that Suzuki is not liable for any accidents that occur.

On what basis will they not release your bike? It's your bike, you're aware of the recall, it's your decision.
I would consider talking to Wackjum (aka Fresnel Phan one of our site sponsors and 1st class lawyer) If he agrees with what I'm thinking, then call Stubbs, and talk to the service manager and demand the return of your bike. If they hesitate, let them know the next time they hear from you it will be with your lawyer on the line as you consider it to be illegal for them to hold your bike without your consent.
3 weeks is unacceptable, IMHO

Of course I could be completely wrong, and it's legal for them to hold your bike indefinitely, but I doubt it.

I have another question, I may attempt to graft a Suzuki front end (including brakes) onto my '82 XS650 Streettracker. Can I get a replacement MC under the recall? It's the part that was recalled not the whole bike...

I asked if there was a waiver I could sign stating that I know about recall and take responsibility for any accident that may occur and they said NO!! Can't not release bike till recall is done. That it was a safety recall and if something happen they could get sewed blah blah blah. I think it's total bull , I don't see how they can just keep my bike for as long as it takes to replace it.

Grab your spare key, casually walk in the service shop and take you bike back.
