Naked Liter Bike

OK, haven't been in a market for a while, but I am thinking of replacing couple bikes I own with one. I love my SV 650, but I want more power and better suspension (stock). Fuel injected is a must.

What in your opinion are my best options for a liter naked bike for around $6K (looking at used).

03-06 Kawi Z-1000. Pretty much on par with any 600cc SS in regards to power and weight. They can be had for $3500-$5k. I think the front suspension is fully adjustable, too.

I have an '07 SV1000S almost brand spanking new if you are interested. I thought about cannibalizing the '05 gixxer 600 front end and shock to feed the SV1K, but so far haven't felt the need to.

And I won't take all your $6k either.

Do your 600s have lead ballasts?

My 03 was a pig. Fun, comfy, and fast, but heavy as .

I back up what these fellas are saying in regards to the SV1k. Tuono is a "nicer" bike... but the SV will outlast anything, isn't too heavy, and is just an awesome all around bike. I miss mine. The Z... not so much.

BUT WAIT- where's the Speed Triple in this discussion?

My speedy was my favorite all-around bike to date. Lighter than the SV (with arrow pipe), sexier (if you're into that kinda thing), and definitely handled better. Smaller wheelbase and better suspension. For 6k you might find a pretty decent one. I got My 08 loaded with 2k miles for less than 7.

Just going by the specs I've found online. 03-06 Z1000 is claimed to be around 380# dry with 127hp....pretty much the same as 600's. I've never ridden one, though. '07 and later (according to specs) is 50# heavier with 2 fewer horses, but I suspect the weight gain is in the exhaust.

I'm in Dallas an owe still but I'm an honest guy and you'd get the title when I did for sure. I just never ride it cuz Dallas sux

Speed Triple would be my second pick behind the Tuono. I have had both a Tuono and an SV1000 and saying the Tuono is nicer is an understatement. I actually owned them both at the same time and getting on Tuono after riding the SV made it feel like a Toyota Corolla. It is a night and day difference. Not just fit and finish either. It was way faster, handles 3X better, and the brakes on the SV feel like dirtbike binders compared to the Brembos on the Tuono. The headshake on the SV that came from changing directions quickly while on the throttle was lethal sometimes. Put around 10k miles on each bike and the SV was in the shop twice and I never had a single problem with the Aprilia. That being said, I still loved my SV. The power is really manageable and they sound great. Both bikes are wheelie monsters if you are in to that sort of thing.

+1 stay away from the SV1K. IMO even well modded it isn't a fun bike. While the triple (even the 955) is a blast to ride.

You can't go wrong with an FZ1. Plenty of power, comfy for long days and handles better than you'd expect.
I aint sayin' they're a naked supersport but with fully adjustable suspension front and rear, you can make them handle just fine.

Best of all?
They're Yamahas, lol
