What was your first bike?

On my 18th birthday, my dad took me outside to his Honda 1981 CB750 Custom and handed me the keys. He showed me the basics of how to operate a motorcycle. ....
Him- That's the clutch....
me- A clutch does what?
him- Shut up and pay attention... First gear is down and second through fifth is up. Neutral is in between first and second.
me- Say what? In between? I'm very confu...
him- Shut up and pay attention... That's the front brake. That's the back brake.
me- I understand THAT! Is the back brake like an emergency brake or something?
Him- No, you use them both at the same time. The bike is yours for 500 bucks. Happy birthday.
me- Wow! THANKS! Teach me how to ride so I can go out on it now.
Him- I just taught you. You'll figure it out. Try not to get killed. *hands me the keys and walks back into the house.
me- Wait... but... (he's now gone)... wow.

I hop on that bike and take it for a spin around the block. There were three stop signs/lights around that block. I dropped it all three times.

Man. I loved that bike. I rode the heck out of that thing. I put well over a hundred thousand miles. I tore that thing apart and put about 10 thousand dollars into it, if not more!
Installed every aftermarket part into that motor you can imagine.

Bought a 900 Custom motor and stuffed it in that 750 frame.
Bored it out to a 1034 CC. Megacycle cams.
Barnett kevlar clutch.
Had the head drilled and bigger valves installed.
Installed a nitrous system (hence my SN being NitroHonda).
Mikuni smoothbores.
Stage 3 jet kit.
Kerker exhaust pipes.
Switched from a shaft drive over to a chain drive.
THEN my crowning moment I took the engine to Texas Muscle Bikes in Austin and had the engine blueprinted.

No, I did nothing to the suspension. Completely stock. I was a kid. It was all about making it go fast. Forget suspension! Dragtime, baby. Dragtime.

It was one ugly bike but I loved it. My first bike. It got lost at Stubbs cycles on Telephone road. I took it in to be repaired and didn't have the money to get it out. It was left there for too long before they trashed the bike. I miss it. And no I don't do business at Stubbs anymore. I loved that bike.

I love you, old man. Rest in peace.

Mine was a brand new '02 GSXR 750. Had never been on a bike b4, not even just to sit on 1 or as a backseat rider. Just woke up one morning and said I want one! Couldn't even ride the fugger home. My homeboy had to meet me at Stubbs and ride it home for me.

Once we got there he showed me how to get outta 1st gear, was supposed to come over the next day to show me the rest but never did, so I just jumped on it and said, i'm getting from point A to B today. Got around the block after I goosed my way thru an intersection, got scared turning and rolled it up on the sidewalk by accident!! Luckily no falls, cause I was gearless!!!!! I put 30k miles on that in 3 years. I miss that bike.

First came the 3 wheeler when I was about 6 I guess... wrecked that into a tree (never allowed to ride without a helmet again)... So then I ran over a dog with the scooter... yep piled that one up... So, then came the dirt bikes. :laughing6
