Quote:
Shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday, Liberty County resident Jean Larue Wymore, 46, of Dayton, lost control of her Kawasaki motorcycle and was thrown to the ground, deputies reported. Wymore, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital-The Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead, deputies said.

Shouldve wouldve... Whatever. She died.

I never ride my bike without a helmet. I started riding when it was the law here in Texas. You HAD to have a helmet to ride. Then they reversed that law a few years ago and I tried to ride to the store without it. I couldn't. I feel naked without my helmet on the streets. I'm just happy that I started riding when it was required by law because I've now developed a strong habit of wearing my helmet. It's so strong that I don't even pass it to the ladies who ride behind me who absolutely must insist on riding with me. My logic... if I can't keep the bugs/pebbles/bird (yes I've been nailed with the lid open)/gunk off my face, I can't safely control my motorcycle therefore I wear the helmet.

Either way, our legal system has left it up to us as a choice. Lady wasn't breaking the law by riding without a helmet. Now she wasn't using her noggin (no pun intended) and rode without a helmet. I firmly believe that it should be a choice for the motorcyclist to make. Just as well as wearing a seatbelt in a car. Now, let's move past the scolding of the lady and shut our eyes for a moment for her passing.
