Miserable Ride

Left Houston Friday afternoon on the bike -- bright and sunny.

Spent the night at my brother's (LessthanCoop) in College Station. Awoke to much cooler temps and some rain Saturday morning, but by noon, the roads had dried and the temp. was tolerable with leathers and thermal underwear. We had no TV or radio for a forecast, so we took off for Austin and Easter at the parents' house.

By the time we got to Caldwell temp had dropped 10 degrees, and rain had started.

When we got to 290 rain was really coming down, and temp was an indicated 34 degrees. The last hour-plus of the ride was with drenched clothes / gloves / boots, limited visibilty, freezing temps, slick roads, and serious numbness in the hands.

Arrived in Austin just in time to experience some sleet-riding. Pulled in the driveway with nothing in reserve. I doubt if we'd been able to go another 10 minutes.

On the ride back to houston yesterday, i had a guy on a new, red GSXR-1000 pull up next to me at a light outside of Brenham and say, "man, it's FREEZING today!"

I wonder if he's on here? Said he was riding back to Houston.
