10/11/13 (Friday) ride south to Matagorda Bay ( Palacios)

tomorrow's the last day of good weather for the week so i'm heading south from Santa Fe to enjoy it. it'll be a noob to moderate pace, mostly 10 MPH over with some fun blasts here and there. i'm leaving around 10AM if anyone wants to tag along. i can meet up in a neighboring town, if necessary.

What is down in Palacios that you are going there for?
What time are you planning on coming back?

I MAY be interested.. I have some stuff to do tomorrow but.... I may ditch it and ride.

i have family buried there and usually stop in at the cemetary when i ride down but that is never the primary reason for going. i like to go south a few times each year, just so i can get away from civilization without riding thru Houston to do it. i always take the farm roads there and back when i'm alone but i have taken the farm roads there and super slabbed it back on 35 so the others could make it back on time.

i'm cool with skipping the cemetary and it's not a problem if you need to get home quicker and want to slab it.
back way there and slab it home would take about 5 hours with a couple drink stops and no lunch. 250 miles, round trip.

I may be down. I have to take my wife's car to the dealer at 8am for an oil change, then drop it off at her work. I SHOULD be home by 9:30a.. I'm in league city so I can meet up with you as you come up 45. I'm good for drink stops and lunch down there for sure. As long as I'm back by 5:30p, I'm good...

All depends on how quick I get out of the dealer. I'll keep you posted in the morning..

I'll let you do the cemetery thing on your own, I'll hang in town and catch up with you on the way out.

We'll see how it goes in the morning... Don't plan it around me tho..

i won't be heading up 45. i usually leeave santa fe on hwy.6, near alvin and cut thru the back way toward freeport.........but there is a bridge out right now, so if you want, we can meet at the kroger in dickinson and take 517 over to the road that takes us thru little mexico and catch 2004 from there. be home by 5:30 is no problem and i can leave a little late if you need to.
