R6 problems

My bike developed a slight stutter over the weekend. We went on a pretty cool ride saturday that covered about 200 miles. Towards the end of the day the bike started to run funny in first gear. It's only when I take off and it stops once the rpm is over 3.5 to 4k. It's not exactly consistent either, but it is doing most of the time. The bike is an 09 with 15k on the clock. It has a full yoshi, PCV, and a K&N I installed myself. We'll Motorcycles Unlimited installed the PCV, other than that I haven't done anything to it. I'm wondering if it's time to change the plugs and or possibly get the valves checked/adjusted.

I would definitely take it to a shop and have a full tune up done. Unless you can do it yourself. Could be a very simple problem that a tune up would fix.

Was going to say the same thing, I got a full tank of bad gas in my R6 and the symptoms are similar.

I'd also learn what scheduled maintenance my bike needs, especially if it has 15,000 miles on it and it's 4 years old

Don't take it to Motorcycles Unlimited!!! Two weeks until they look at it. Tejas Motorsports hooked me up. Motorcycles Unlimited could have told me about the wait when I called. I'm going to send them a bill for my time. Lol

id be happy to help ya. little stupid things also are a potential thing for this. plug would be a great start, check all your grounds (my race bike was all kinda funny 1 day turns out my ground on my battery was a little lose causing it all), bad gas, the tune on your PCV could be a bad map.

I can flash your ECU give you a wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better tune then the PCV or Bazzaz and you can sell that pay for the flash and still have money in your pocket plus unlock alot more power since your bike is only 80% throttle from the factory this will be full 100% WOT.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll go ahead and change the plugs, clean the K&N, and change the oil. I did recently change the battery so I'll check the connections as well. Where can I get a plug extraction tool from? I have a feeler gage set already, just need the tool. What else am I missing from a full tune up??

Yes, stay with the NGK plugs.
Another thing; although Yamaha states to adjust them at a much higher mileage, the valves are known for seriously tightening up in the 15k-18k range, causing poor idle, hard start, and poor low speed performance issues.

I've built and raced 08+ R6's for the last 3 years. I know these bikes inside and out. If your problem continues, bring it by and i'll help you diagnose it (no charge).

Tejas fixed my bike today. There were a couple of loose wires going to the ECU.
