Minimum post count rule to post in classifieds

I support a minimum post count rule to post in the classifieds. It keeps the trash out of the community. We get people who join that just want to use the site to sell their items but contribute in no other way. I look at MH as an "online motorcycle community", alot of these people who join have no intention to be involved after they sell their item. Some people like that their allowed to post here on the chance of us members finding good deals. 90% of the time though they're not good deals, they're posting overpriced junk. They can always post on craigslist, a site just for selling items, and not here. I'm sure members who are searching for items for sale here are also searching craigslist too. No need to post it here. Our classified section should be for our members!

On one hand... buyer beware, they can be ripped off by anyone (noob or OG), and anyone can offer up a nice deal too.... so who's posting it up really doesn't matter.

On the otherhand, it certainly is nice to be buying from a "regular" around here.

If they just wanted to hock their stuff, they make craigslist for that. But I don't see it "hurting us" either.

I don't have a problem with it. Sometimes there are good deals. I ignore the over priced stuff.

My position is that MH is supposed to be a community for us members. Not every Joe who just wants to come in and sell something. MH is for US.

It SOMETIMES gives us members the opportunity to up good deals even if we have to sift through the BS. I like it

I dont understand how having an open classifieds takes that away. Active MEMBERS have the option to ignore an item, to negotiate privately, or simply block a user if it annoys them enough.

The point is, MEMBERS have the options.

Fact is, if I wrote up something that would allow users to filter ads by post count, it wouldnt be very popular. Not every user with one post has a bad deal, or a deal that can't be negotiated etc. People like choices. Even bad ads are amusing at times.

No, not all of them are bad deals. I'm just proposing they be a part of our community before they try to take in on some of the perks like selling stuff here. You can't even look at the firearm classifieds unless your a member. There's a reason for that...

I'm all for open classifieds- but I do not enjoy getting ban-warned for heckling when some noob posts a ratted-out pos for 3 grand more than it's worth.

The ball should roll both ways, yes?

I'm all for open classifieds, but do not think we should get banned/warned for heckling or "being real" when someone no-name posts a ratted out POS for 3k more than it's worth.

I will have to agree with j_e_hurst on this, if your gonna post an buy items on this forum you should be involved with this community. There shouldn't be drama or ppl getting ban no matter how long because of some bs were all adults not in high school anymore.
