Jesus Christ.

I'm not saying it wasn't my fault, just that I think the obscured plate law is bullshit, (I plan to pay it and I'm not moving the plate position) and that he profiled me because I was on a bike that looked like what they see racing down the highway.

I think there are a lot of traffic laws that are bullshit there just to generate revenue, and give officers stupid reasons to profile and pull people over. This is one of them. He did give me a break, I still think it's a bullshit ticket.

Like I said before it's irritating to hear about these guys racing and running from cops and getting away, and then get popped for dumb like my license plate not being placed properly, or lane splitting in stopped traffic.

Just a little piece of advice...

You might just want to let this one go.

The more you defend it, the bigger the hole gets.

Well, if it's legal to display them where they aren't legible from another vehicle, then what's the point in even displaying them?

You do understand why we have laws against obscuring a license plate, yes? It's not so far away from what Bevo analogized; its so you can prove at a glance that you are operating a legal registered vehicle on a public road, taxes paid and all that. Thanks to a certain subculture within motorcycling that rides dirty and obscures their plates either for fun (FTP and all that) or because they are straight up G, all motorcyclists get scrutinized if our plates are even partially obscured. , in Florida a few years back a bill made it all the way to the governor to make changing your plate location from the original manufacturers mount cause for a stop. You want to change this profiling from police? Change the behavior of other riders to eliminate the problem first, shift the paradigm as they say. As it is now, the law is just and purposeful, man up and take care of your .

lots of em

I just think if the officer was profiling and targeting sport bikes, then that means he is on a mission to pop that dirty riding sportbiker, so that being said, why would he let YOU off of a bunch of serious offenses (offenses that cost good coin to make go away) and just make up something to ticket you on. I think you really have viewed this wrong and ought to be giving the officer a reach around instead of a brainless thread.
noobs, sigh

EXACTLY. Which is why it shouldn't matter that the plate was registered to a different motorcycle
