I'm aware. It's when they really find something that their cause is brought into real question.

Police are able to ask for identification when ever and where ever they want. It is a privilege to drive/ride by law not a right. You have to show proof you are legal.

Now searching property without warrant or probably cause is a different matter.
You are required to carry ID. As an operator of a vehicle you'll be required to present itbif pulled over. Arguing the 'Why' is going to be tough, being on a bike there are more options for an officer to pull you over (lane changes, turn signals, plates, speed, etc.)

However, You are not required to present that ID simply because an officer walks up and randomly chooses to check your paperwork.

This was an issue awhile back when Metro PD was attempting random checks along the trains from downtown to the medical center.

V thats the old America get with the times.
I don't think he's saying he supports the cops being allowed to pull us over without a valid basis, but since when have cops ever followed the law? I've seen more than one hit his lights to go through a red light. I've seen numerous police vehicles change lanes without indicating. I've been pulled over on my bike going UNDER the speed limit after the cop clocked the truck next to me doing 20mph OVER the speed limit.

Fact is, cops are going to do whatever they want because, as so many have pointed out, it becomes your word against theirs in court. The best we can do is ride our rides and try to be as legal as possible so that when, not if, we get pulled over, there's less harm they can potentially do.

Since when am I required to carry ID?

I have a DRIVERS LICENSE that I must have in possession if I am DRIVING.

At no other time, am I required to carry ID. This isnt Germany. I dont have to carry papers.

You are so wrong with this statement.

you NEVER have to identify yourself to an officer without probable cause, ever.

Remember that there are no laws about the police lying to you, but if you know your rights and know you have done no wrong you do not have to say anything. In fact without probable cause it is legal to give them a fake name if you want too.

That is impossible, especially with cops hunting “us" bikers down.
