Hey and All That Funky Jazz

Little about myself: Been wanting a motorcycle since I was 15, and even more so after I watched the anime Akira. Reason won and I didn't get a bike until two days ago which is 14 years later. After much debate, research, and talking with friends who ride I decided on a 2013 Kawasaki 650 all in black. My other hobbies are photography (macro ((bugs)) and lightning in particular). I also dabble quite a bit in video games of the PC kind. Was into cars hardcore but had to trade up for family type vehicles for the family the wife and I are starting. On the flip side, I finally got to get a bike... which I promptly mounted my gopros (which I use for time lapse photography) to and started making boring videos.

So, since Saturday I've learned a lot. Still trying to build good habits. I guess it has helped that I drove manual cars since I was 14. Have over 80 miles on the bike now. Still a long ways to go before all the neuron connections are built and solid.

Anyway, Hey.

Thanks.

My friends have been very generous with good advice. All of which advocate safety above all else, such as never riding without my helmet, gloves, etc. for instance. Oh, and I'm signed up for the beginners course at Awesome Cycles. Can't wait!

Welcome to MH! Lots of helpful peeps here, good to see you are signed up for the course. Never stop scanning and don't look at anything for more than a couple of seconds to avoid target fixation, and ride within your limits.

I'd like to see a few of you favorite bug shots! Would you mind posting a few up?

tip 3: ride like someone trying to kill you. keep your head on a pivot man

Awesome Cycle was pretty good, I took them for my MSF. Make sure you get them bells haha.

I don't ride without my gears period. always helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots.

Welcome and ride safe. oh and awesome photos.

Thanks! I take great pride in my photography.

I really enjoyed the Awesome Cycles class. Walter was the teacher. Learned a lot! Went practicing today in a parking lot near my house the U turns and a few other things. Feel a thousand times better about riding then I did on Wednesday. Super glad I took that class.
