TIRE PRESSURE FOR THE TRACK

So I hear that 30front/30rear is about right for the track and/or aggressive street riding. :confused1 My question is this... is the pressure set while the tires are cold, or do you warm your tires up first (a few laps or tire warmers) and then set the pressure?

What tires are you running?

And usually when people give you just a pressure number they are talking cold pressures.

Different manufactures different tire pressures but I think the general rule is what you stated already. Tires pressure will increase as the tire heats up so initial pressure is taken when tire is cold. I ususaly just set mine at 29 rear and 31 front no matter what manufacturer but I'm not racing either. I also would not set my pressure at those settings for the street B/C there is no way anyone is going to heat tires up that much riding street no matter how agressive and if they do they need to take it to the track because they're dangerous to everybody. Also, track tires vs street tires from the same manufacturer can have very different recommended pressures. For instance, a Pilot Power street tire for the rear is set around 30psi for the track if I remember correctly, but the Power Race (also from Michelin) is a track tire and the rear is recommended to be set at 22psi.

Track: 31 psi Front 29 psi Rear

Street: 36 psi Front 34 psi Rear

(For Most Tires but I would check with who you got your tires from.)
