I'm glad you are OK but knee guards are only $40 and take only extra 2 minutes to put it on and Boots are great as well (better then any running shoe). It could been a lot worse. Gear up buddy and I hope insurance will make it alright.

Glad you are OK dude. Don't worry about the bike, with those injuries and the bike being totaled....you'll get enough dough for a better bike.

the guy who rear ended my bike, his insurance paid me $5k for a 2006 Honda 599 that I got for $3900. I got about another $1200 for pain and suffering and I wasn't half as hurt as you,

Glad you are still around to write about it! What kind of gear were you wearing and how did it hold up? Good info to pass along for others.

As a teaching opportunity for the rest of us, it would be great to have more details. How the accident happened? How fast were you going, where, etc. Where you wearing gear, and if so what kind? etc. Thanks.

I was wearing my helmet, gauntlet gloves, icon chest and spine protector. I was heading down Broadway to go to class and this woman went through an uncontrolled intersection and hit my left side. The impact threw the bike to the ground and i did with it for a good 15-20ft.

Btw I didn't get a lawyer; some of the lawyers take a good chunk out of what the insurance gives you. Just don't let the insurance company try to outmuscle you. Got a good amount of money for my bike, and for pain and suffering. But I don't know the whole situation, and a lawyer might be good for your case, just gotta weigh the pros and cons. Just my 2 cents.

Good thing you were wearing gear. IMO, jacket and knee guards would be good, but to each their own.

Here's to a speedy recovery.
