i was thinking more like an 850cc bike...same motor as the fz-09.....R9 perhaps?

which reminds me off the old and rare R7

Comparing the FZ09 to the Triumph triples is like SV650 vs. Monster 696. Yeah the engine config is similar, but both are great bikes, but their intended clientele are very different.

It'll be interesting to see how the battle of the triples plays out over time.
changing cost vs changing features between the manufacturers.

Yami is gonna sell the bejesus out of them. I don't think it's necessarily Triumph that needs to worry. There are a whole lot of Japanese "budged middleweights" that all-of-sudden seem overpriced, overweight, and underpowered.

Mark, you're at TYS still right? I might stop by if I visit my parents in Fwood this weekend.

Hopefully less plastic... it might as well have been a ninja with as bulky, heavy, and plasticy as it was getting.

No such luck. It will probably have an even edgier transformer look than the current Z1000, which really cannot be called a naked bike. Scantly dressed, yes. Naked, no. Kawi isn't alone in this. The Tuono is covered up so much you can hardly see the V4 engine underneath. Triumph Streetie and Speedie are more bare, but even they have cute lil' bikini fairings.

Agreed on all parts.

Except I like the Triumph's bikinis... I think because it looks like a dedicated belly pan and a dedicated radiator fairing. Not one giant "front 1/2 of a fairing".

The Tuono looks like they just cut off the back of the fairing and left the windshield off. At least the Z1000s headlight is fork mounted.

I prefer the fork mounted lights. I have the kit on my Speed Triple so the lights are fork mounted and not frame mounted. It puts the lights closer to the forks and i think looks a lot better
