Re: my may & june schedule

I do teach the advanced, but 1x only last year.

they usually only offer it 1x a mos. and i'm usually teaching the basic on those weekends.

the main requirement is you bring your own bike. and gear. they ask that you haave 6 mos of good riding expereience.

I think you have to call in to schedule and pay if I'm not mistaken.

Re: my may & june schedule

Ok, I've waited long enough for Ed to answer this........

As of this moment, we (awesomecycles.com) have 11 openings for the 3 day course and 8 openings for the 2 day course.

You may register online or over the phone (281-AWE-SOME) using MC, Visa, or Amex. Call us if you'd like to mail a check or MO in.

Personal opinion......I'd suggest taking the 3 day course if possible (weather is cooler) and registering as soon as possible (classes fill quickly).

Also, we will match SB price of $165 if they are still running it.

BTW, we are now the ONLY school in Houston that includes Ninja 250's in our list of training bikes.

my classes are @ I-10 w and bingle
and challens are North houston 45N and kuykendahl

both quite a ways from glaveston, i know there are classes @ san jac south, and maybe some more south......

We've had this discussion before, and it's obviously one we'll just have to agree to disagree on.

Like I've asked before, "do you take your bike to the closest shop to you to get worked on?". The answer is no, and neither do I. We both drive extra miles to the respective places that we each feel do the best work (and in the process pass by several shops on the way).

So why is a school any different?

If all someone cares about is getting the certificate and nothing else, then by all means goto http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/msb/ , find the nearest school and register.

HOWEVER, if you want the most bang for your buck, to have the most fun, fewest problems and most amenities you can get, then compare the schools.

Goto their respective websites and check them out, call them on the phone (ask questions) and compare them. Ask what you get for your money, what's their maintenance schedule for range/bikes, what extras do you get for going there, what's the hiring criteria for instructors, etc.

Then make an informed decision about which school you'd prefer to attend.

and just for the record, Galveston College has a fantastic instructor, but I still had 3 guys from Galveston last weekend, all because of the extras they received.

Re: my may & june schedule

not taking anything away from awesome, it's a good shop. and they do some nice things for their students. understand all the inst. go thru the same training program. so theoretically you should get the same level of inst. @ any MSF certified place. of course real world some are better then others.......who's to say.........

but in the end convinence is a big deal........thats why his sat/sun class fills up before fri/sat/sun class. people want in and out. for the most part. not everybody.

me it's a weekend job. and i do direct people my way, but not gonna tell somebody to drive from galveston to central houston (let alone way N houston) , when there are training centers in galveston. as a matter of fact the schedule coordinator for my school is the main inst. in galveston.........

many inst. float around to diff. schools..........

Re: my may & june schedule

if the class is full for a while, ask if you can be a "standby" often times people don't show up for whatever reason. and you could take their spot as long as you had the $ then and there.

and as i said earlier, san jac. CC also offers the class.....in the clear lake area.

Do you just pull stuff out of thin air? You aren't even close. My teaching salary is less than 1/3 of my total income.

This is true. However, these are also the same people that are normally complaining about the heat as the 3 day course is leaving for the day and they still have 3 hours left in the sun. That's why we offer BOTH classes. To accommodate everyone.

Me neither. What I did tell them to do is to decide what's important to them and then (if necessary) compare schools and make their own decision as to where to go.
