He had no glasses with him. One eye would not even open, and the other was glossed over so bad I'm sure he could barely see. They let him drive off with no glasses, and no tickets. Ole

Hence the term accident and the reason for getting insurance in the first place.......you know....

I would've put the kickstand down, taken my helmet off, gotten off the bike, ran to him with a frantic look on my face, then screamed into the window...............

I've had the same thing happen to me while trying to put my wallet away at a toll booth. It''s astonishing the expression on their face like what they did wasn't unacceptable.

Was he laughing or honking or anything? Wonder if it was an honest accident? Good on you for just leaving the situation (if nothing was wrong with you or the bike), but unfortunately at this point you're the one who "left the scene of the accident". I get why everyone is saying you shoulda called the cops, but who's to say he would have left if you stopped and got off? Maybe he was texting and it really was an accident...at least I hope so.

If you rear end somebody, it is alomst always your fault. The only exceptions are if the vehicle behind pushed you forward to hit the vehicle in front. Or if a vehicle pull into your path in a manner that provided you without reasonable space to decelerate.

Regardless of how slight the collision, both parties must stop and at least access damage. Vehicles these days are designed to deform and absorb energy. Doesn't take much to cause damage. My car is in the shop right now cus some idiot backed into the front of it in a parking lot. Looks like it might have been a tall pickup with a hitch. Damage is estimated right now at more than $4500, and could go higher.

you should've stopped, show no aggression, and immediately pull out cellphone and take pics. Even a light contact with a tire is liable to leave marks on his car. Even if you dont file a claim, you need to cover your just in case.

there are no such things as accidents, someone did something that was either incorrect or didn't do something that should have been done, it all boils down to some asshat up again no such thing as an accident as all so called accidents are avoidable period. get off the bike take pics call the cops and if he runs over your bike or you ventilate with extreme prejudice!

Im wondering this too. Maybe it was an accident n he was inching forward.

I wouldn't have let him get away without saying something first..something along the lines of "u could have killed me, for I dont have the protection of a cage around me. Pls be mindful of motorcycles, please sir thank you."

How do you know he wasn't texting and just rolled into you? One would think he would have hit his horn first, and if that didn't work then bump you if he wanted you to move.

I think you should have stopped and taken photos and been as restrained as possible. Whether I call the popo depends on the damage and the person demeanor but that's just me. If there is little or no damage and they are sufficently apologetic then no need to get the popo insurance will be fine. Anything less then contrite from them and we wait for johnny law. Years ago I would have been ready to bruise my knuckels or kick off a mirror, but I'm 40+, wife, carreer, and kid now, I know I still can but its not worth it in the long run. Besides people are sometimes armed and almost always dangerous. You never know who you are dealing with. Heck my 10 year has been take Jujitsu for 7 years and I've seen him manhandle more than what should be his fare share of full grown adults. I definitely would think twice, thrice about getting into a real street fight in 2013.

Besides I think it cost less to pay my deductable than to defend an assualt and battery charge. IJS
