ugly, but a good deal. practice in your neighborhood until you can ride it as easily as you drive a car then use it as a commuter

ummm...he is 17. A 250 is a very responsible decision for him to make. Start small and go larger as age/skills grow.

Understandable.

My wife had the same opinion when I went to buy my bike. She knew I could ride, but is afraid of all the other dip$hit$ on the road.

Just keep your head straight, and ride smart! AND WEAR YOUR GEAR, NO MATTER IF YOU ARE RIDING DOWN THE STREET OR ACROSS TOWN.

I have a nice helmet but that's it.

I was actually wondering what kind of Jacket/Gloves I should get. I found some nice alpinestars jackets that I really liked but I'm not sure yet. I'd have to try them on.

Maybe if some of us came over to your house to show your mom what good upstanding citizens we all are, she would be more inclined to let you get a bike?

parents just don;t understand. I got my first "big" bike at 23-24 and my father almost had a heart attack and wanted to disown me. Now he is somewhat ok with it. Well actually he was until I told him I went ahead and got my cmra license now he's again.

Again they don't get it. (I know he cares)

Be very careful and respect the machine.

Hey seth

Met you at Awesome last weekend (I was the instructor wannabe). Props for getting to the MSF and keeping your mom on board with the decision to ride.

I talked to her for a little while when you were wrapping up day 1. She just wants to protect you. My mom still cringes and rants when she sees my bike in the garage, and I'm 38. Just stay responsible and I'm sure you'll be riding before you know it.

Now about that moto party. . .
