Re: problems accesing site

here's the scoop

I recently transferred the server to a new home, from the original temporary personal server (which is why you saw the redirection page). However, the domain is taking CERTAIN ISPs time to propogate. Its why you saw the http://68.123.blahblah address and the redirect form on the other server.

80% of people are able to access this site now through motohouston.com. HOWEVER, RR (known for having horrible DNServers and lengthy propogation times) is taking a good while to propogate. I only know of only one other ISP that is taking awhile.

So basically, if you cant access motohouston.com, its because your ISP is pointing to the old server, which is still down because of the storm.

Ofcourse, if you dont want to wait, you can fix it now, and its absolutely harmless.

1. First and foremost you can try to flush your DNS.

Start-Programs-Command Prompt
Type: ipconfig /flushdns
Then open your browser, and try to access motohouston.com

If that doesnt work, you can change your DNS as a whole (also harmless), kind of like what you did with the proxy. Just PM me and i'll explain this.

i tried to flush my DNS and nothing yet. i have road runner so ill just wait.

aprox. how much time should this take for RR to change over? will clearing my cookies, etc. help the process?

Re: problems accesing site

nah, cookies wont do anything, its really the ISP. I know of 3 people, including you, that are having problems with road runner. I know TWO of those three, are using the same DNS #s.

I know St3ph3n uses RR and he has no problem accessing the site, but im sure he's using different DNS'. You can ask him for his DNS info, or you can just use the ones I posted below which are SBC's DNS' in Houston.

Like I said, if you want it changed now, you can just change your DNS, otherwise, youre literally gonna have to wait on RR, or do what youre doing now.

To change your DNS:

1. Start-Settings-Control Panel
2. Double Click Network Connections
3. Click on Local Area Connection
4. Click on Properties
5. Highlight "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" then click "Properties"
6. Put a "check" on "obtain the following DNS server addresses"
7. Put 151.164.11.201 as the preferred and 151.164.20.201 as the other

it should work fine

and you can just continue to use their DNServers

Re: problems accesing site

nah, you just changed the DNServers you used.

DNS are basically a directory service. Kind of like phone books. You want to reach someone, you look up their name, and it tells you their number. Well, you were looking up motohouston.com, and it gave you the odl number. By changing the DNS, all you did was change to another phone book. The one you have now, is just a little more updated than the other. The other will eventually catch up.

You wont notice a difference at all.
