HA HA ...

Teen shot by Houston homeowner in alleged break-in

Bob Manross, 77, shot a neighbor early today after the teen allegedly broke through Manross's back door on Avenue H in southeast Houston and demanded the elderly man's money.

Manross said he told the youth not to hurt him and that he would get his cash from the bedroom. But Manross said he returned to the kitchen with a rifle instead and shot the invader once in the abdomen.

"I don't take any chances," Manross, a retired painter, said this morning. "I live in a bad neighborhood.

Manross said his wife, Lydia, already was in bed when he turned off the television in another room and got in bed at 1:45 a.m.

"I heard something scraping around my boat outside," Manross said, referring to a 23-foot aluminum fishing boat he has parked in his Houston yard.

"I didn't get out to look because, a lot of times, it's dangerous to get out there."

But then the danger became clear, Manross said.

"I heard a crash of the back door and I knew something was wrong," Manross said.

Manross said he woke his wife and told her to call 911 for police.

Someone walked into the bedroom and then back into the kitchen and Manross said he followed the person.

"I walked up on him within three feetm," Manross said.

"Hey, Bob, I want all your money," Manross quoted the invader as saying. "I told him it was in the next room. "

Manross said he fired at the man once as he re-entered the kitchen with his rifle.

Manross said he knew the person as a neighbor but said he didn't know the person's exact name this morning.

The teen did not die but was taken away in an ambulance, Manross said. He said police indicated the invader likely will survive.

Police are investigating the case, Manross said.

True. Hopefully Mr. Manross has accounted for this and has gotten a scatter gun. Shelby Tact 12 G

Too bad the teen survived. The old man should have shot him in the head.

The teen will now probably file a lawsuit against the old man and win.

With the new bill that was just passed by the St. Leg. and signed by the Gov, this man will not be sued. Castle Doctrine FTW.

why?
A man is succesful in defending his home and his life and it makes you sick?

Would you feel better if he had gotten robbed and beat and the robber got away?

I can understand your perspective because it is always bad, in my mind, to wish death on someone but I was just happy that the innocent person in this instance went away without harm to life, limb or personal property. Personally, I'm pretty sick of thieves so him...

that man should've given the kid all of his money. how can you say it's right for him to shoot a kid just because he breaks into the house and wants some money? man...just kidding:icon_bigg

I just find something wrong with some of the reactions. Thieves suck, but death seems a bit much. And the people on here aren't even necessarily advocating death for self defense, but more because he 'deserves it' or because he might sue or come back for revenge.

I find it wrong that the parents of said youth are not held responsible for the poor job they did of raising this societal degenerate they call their son.

But thats just me. :icon_bigg

^^^ I KNOW! But a lot of the time its, "My son would never do such a thing". Parents would rather play dumb than take responsibility for their sons (or daughters) action because they believe they raised them the right way... So sad.
