And i think all of the morbidly obese, uncontrolled diabetics, and life long smokers/drinkers put a bigger burden on our system. Let's make eating, smoking, and drinking illegal.

Well -_- I'm a poor college student who can't afford the gear I want. But I still ALWAYS ride with riding boots, helmet, gloves, and a spine/chest protector, and a sharp knife .

Legalization of "vices" includes (in my mind at least) decriminalization of prostitution, leading to regulation of said industry with better working conditions and cleaner "facilities". So HIV infected whores would be a fringe fetish industry catering to Xtreme live-on-the-the-edge types, not mainstream. Same thing goes for the crack industry.
Yeah, darran doesn't really subscribe to the libertarian mindset, I guess. You don't criminalize crack because crackheads may burn down a house, steal a lawn mower or put a baby in a microwave, you criminalize arson, theft and murder and penalize those offenders accordingly. You don't criminalize prostitution because pro's can spread HIV, you make spreading HIV a crime.

The whole movement to make laws designed for preventive criminalization with the goal of preventing possible corollary side effects is the insidious root of fascist big brother/government.

People need to take responsibility for themselves. Criminalize the actual 'bad things' that directly harm OTHER people. Don't outlaw certain things because they may or may not lead to someone committing another offense.
