I beleive in personal rights. There shouldnt be a helmet law, nor a seat belt law.

Is it dumb as not to wear either? Yes, sir. In my mind it is, but you should be free to be as stupid as you want with your body. Smoke, ride without a helmet, swing rattlesnakes about your head, I dont care.

+1 to all of this. I don't believe in "vice" laws for the same reason. If you choose to be a dumbass with your own body, who the is society to say no?

I agree to a point. However, people who dont care what they do with their own bodies tend to end up putting mine in harms way. I like my body the way it is. I don't love it, but I am quite fond of all my appendages being in the right place.

Add on the cost to tax payers for the bamlance ride, the tow, the street cleaning, the 65 LEOs who showed up, the time to people stuck in a parking lot cause not a major freeway is closed at rushhour, the hooker who got HIV, infected 60+ people and the cost of taxpayer funded meds, the crackhead who's crackhouse burned down and took 3 others with it, the firemen who got burned putting it out... Stupid human tricks always cost society in some way, shape, or form. If the cost of their stupidity was limited to only affecting them and their families, we wouldnt have lawyers, cops, fireman, judges, prisons, rehabs, etc to the great extent we do currently.

I did?!

I think I probably would've been too -retentive to use double negative there... Something more like:

"Those who think their heads aren't worth protecting with a helmet are probably right."

All of the traffic conditions listed happen when Tommy Texter bumps the tail end of any SUV on the road, so nothing changes there.
Legalization of "vices" includes (in my mind at least) decriminalization of prostitution, leading to regulation of said industry with better working conditions and cleaner "facilities". So HIV infected whores would be a fringe fetish industry catering to Xtreme live-on-the-the-edge types, not mainstream. Same thing goes for the crack industry.
