You add any air to the tire since you bought it?

I'd contact them, but ultimately you're gonna have to get up with Michelin I would think. Unless you are doing burnouts or some that shouldn't happen in 500 miles obviously.

so the warranty is from the MFG and not from them. It may also be that they like to get paid for what they do too. (in a timely fashion)

It would seem that they would replace it and wait for their refund. That is if the tire is in typical 500mi condition.

Not a in house warranty so I would imagine its the tire makers problem unless the date on the tire is something really old. Or you tore the out of it and expect a new one for free. At least they are helping fix the problem.

Maybe depending on how he acted in the store?

Whats the manufacture date on the tire?

I don't have a dog in this fight but I can provide some insight.
Tire warranties are through the manufacturer unless you're bought an aftermarket road hazard type of warranty.

How that works is the tire gets sent into the manufacturer and after they inspect it they make a determination if it's a warrantable issue or not and then pays the consumer directly.
The dealer has no say in the matter.

Thanks Patrick, that is what I meant by MFG warranty...
we have the same issues in our business... parts warranties are from the mfg and not us, so we have to get the old part to the MFG and get the warranty replacement from them... we are fortunate in that most of the major MFG's have representatives and parts available here in town.. but in some cases that is not so and we have to wait for parts to come in. For us, sometimes labor is covered to a point.. the MFG may have a labor warranty but they specify how much that is (in hours) and when that work can be done, they do not cover overtime hours.. if a customer wants the work done at night, or on a holliday or weekend, they sometimes do not understand why they are asked to cover the difference in labor costs.
