Bluewater Hwy runs from the Mainland to Galveston. Basically you can hit it via Surfside and travel to the San Luis Pass toll bridge. Alternately you can take the Seawall from Galveston and head west until you hit the San Luis Pass Toll Bridge and go towards Surfside.

I have rode that road numerous times and it is always a nice peaceful experience. You have to watch out for the law at all the towns/citys, especially in Surfside and Jamica Beach. Other than that bring 2 bucks for the toll and you are set.

We usually don't go the 517, 35, 523, 332, Bluewater Hwy route. We meet in Pearland and go S on 288 until we hit Freeport and then follow the signs (sorry forgot the road names) to Surfside and then hang a left when you come over the bridge in Surfside (Bluewater Hwy) and you're all set.
