It is very simple. I dont do it because you are not supposed to do it and it is dangerous. Period.

You could do it with your car as well. How many times you sat in trafic due to an accident and you have the whole shoulder to use? Well, you are saying on the bike you do it but not on the car? It does not make sence.

I just dont do it in either vehicle and yes, you will probably have to manouver around me if I see you coming

Are you saying you are going to try and block/cut off a rider who is splitting/filtering?

no, riding the shoulder is different. Chasing a fire truck or ambulance is different. jumping into the exit lane to jump right back into traffic is different. Safely splitting lanes during heavy traffic is logical....only in the US (minus California) do we see it as "dangerous".

Watch your mirrors and fenders. My steel toe boots are cheap and effective....I'm not worried about them getting scuffed.

riding the shoulder is plain stupid

You can get a flat riding there

I bet there are more accidents from speeding than lane splitting/filtering.

Safer then sitting in stop and go traffic waitting to get rear ended.

Who lane splits on the shoulder? Thats not lane splittting thats riding the shoulder.

Ive seen this one car lane split many times on the same road on my way in. Its a metro or some small car and the lady drives crazy as and its a sight to see.

Pretty of you to try to cut off a felow rider just because you dont like it. Just because you dont agree with it you are comfortable possibly injuring a fellow rider. nice there guy and i hope the karma catches up with you. Im guessing you dont commute by bike at all to or from work or anywhere during rush hour.

There's only one reason - they have an inferiority complex. These are the same people that speed up (to block you) when you signal to change lanes.

It's the same thing over and over. people who lane split justify it with one another because they do it. People who don't justify it with one another because they don't do it. Why not just agree to disagree and have a beer

I rarely encouter the lane blocking people. I signal early, and turn to look them in the eye. 98% of the time, they give me plenty of room. Most women smile and wave. I always give drivers the "thank you" wave after merging.

I never wanted my Bronco back as much as when I was driving in Ecuador.

I cringed every time someone would sneak up into the fifth lane (on a 3 lane street), with their mirror scraping down the side of the car I was driving. It bothered no one.

I wanted my lifted Bronco with tubular bumpers, sprayed with bed liner.

Me too. And [blocking] never works. The car changes lane anyways and the [blocker] has to hit the brakes.

Yeah, I can see that I guess

The Versys with stock exaust (what looks like a car muffler) is really quiet. I don't think half the people see me coming.

I also have a Gopro on my helmet, and have noticed people seem to change their behavior when they know they are being recorded...but doubt people generally notice this in thier mirror...

Anyway, insted of being , they should get themselves a motorcycle and do it too.
Nah all stock on the VFR, and I'm going so slow. I've never broke 25mph splitting.
