Why are some cagers so off by lane splitting in stopped traffic?

I had three people yell at me on the way home today for lane splitting.

The craziest one was on I-10 at about 6:30. Traffic is barely moving in the HOV, so I'm slowly going up through traffic. I can see this guy in an SUV's face in his rear view and tell that he's cussing me while I'm coming toward him. First he starts to try to block, swerves over then swerves back into his lane. Then as I come through he rolls his window down and literally SCREAMS at me " You're stupid!" Naturally I paused for a second beside him to give him the ol one finger how do you do. When I passed him he laid on his horn and I just waved.

Why the does this people off so much? It's gotta be jealousy because they are stuck in traffic in a car. I mean I was doing about 15 mph. This guy was in no danger , his car wasn't in any more danger than it was already ( I'm insured better than half the that will hit you) The fastest I will split is around 30 mph ever, and only in packed traffic.

What the is the deal?

People get off like it's second grade line cutting. I say them for being in a car.

Yeah, I agree, em.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something as extreme as someone taking the time to scream at them.

...People were probably pretty on I-10 today though. That was retarded.

I had a truck try and block me on 610 in gridlock. He blocked left, and I went right. Gave him the bird while laughing loud in my helmet.

They're mad for the same reason they get mad and flustered when they see cars moving on the shoulder or following an ambulance.
Because they didn't think of it first and the others are getting away with it. Non-evolution from crab mentality will get these nowhere. Just point and laugh.

Is it hypocritical that I think following an ambulance down the shoulder in a car (or bike) is worse, and not the same thing LOL?

I'm guilty of jumping on the grass in a corolla back then. (Bw8/bissonet) because of still traffic. Its Texas. Every vehicle is a theoretical bubba truck.

Yeah, Houston traffic is ridiculous. I cannot get used to it.

I will ride the bike in the rain rather than sit in my truck in traffic.

There's a video out there somewhere of a cager spending so much time yelling at a lane splitting bike that he rear ends stopped traffic in front of him. I watched it once and haven't been able to find it since. Some people are just stupid.

I get mad when cars do it. When they ride the hov lane just to get in front of me. I go out of my way to ensure that does not happen. When its just a single person in the car I mean..not someone legit carpooling

I don't really lane split but i do swerve in and out of traffic, and if there is enough room for my bike you bet your I will sneak in there.. But seriously they are mad that you are doing it and they can't.. I have made more than one enemy on my drive up the 45 during afternoon rush hour.
