Cool The cypresswood/grant/eldridge/whatever trails

Does anyone ride around there without being chased by the cops? I have heard people talking about them a lot over the past 10 years but have personally never ridden around the trails/bayous/creek. I'm supposed to go out there this weekend and ride with some friends who recently got dirtbikes and couches..I'm sketchy about it. He said something about a ditch and some jumps? This is not really my preferred terrain, but I've been craving something different. Anyone live close to this area and ride out there?

I think the cops ( for the most part ) only stop, and " chase " you when you are breaking the law. With that said, I'd assume if you don't break a law, you should be good

I assumed you meant mountain bikes. If you mean motorcycles you should not be out on the trails in that area.

" I'm supposed to go out there this weekend and ride with some friends who recently got dirtbikes and couches." I think he means dirtbikes.

I ride them all the time, but not the bike trails on cypress wood . The ones of Eldridge are dwindling due to development but you can go all the way from behind HEB on Louetta to cypress north Houston. If jump on them off of Eldridge and hang out in that area , they are pretty fun and the cops can't see you once your away from the main road. To answer your question YES it is illegal and if they do stop you expect a ticket. I've never been stopped in 10 years though.

It is illegal...my nephew got hauled to jail last weekend for being out there on the 4 wheeler. Cop saw him crossing a street somewhere and caught up with him. Not sure what the official charge was.
