s1000rr tail conversion

i got a 2012 cbr 1000rr... i deff hate the tail.. and i love the s1000rr tail. wondering if anyone can help me do the conversion. i know some drilling and welding will be involved to align up the 4 holes. i will buy the subframe, battery tray, tail light, upper and lower tail fairings, key lock, rear pegs, and seats. i know this will be a challenge.. but i dont like to be an average bike lol. i know there will be some issues with the front seats.. matching up to the tank, angle of the subframe, battery/fuse box location, etc..

parts budget - 600
labor - $$$???? if anyone wants to make some money and a few beers

Andrew

Good luck on that budget.

I may be way off but I feel like this is a 1k job, though I guess you can always sell the cbr tail and subframe to recoup

Yeah they are pricey. I was on ebay subframe 300, battery tray 35, tail fairings 200, taillight 45.. Thats already 600. I just need to get a deal on the subframe and im sure i can still squeeze in the seats. If its over 600.. Oh well. I can sell the 2012 tail easily. I know i member on here has done a vfr to a 08+1000rr tail conversion.. He bought my parts. Lets see if he chimes in

Easiest way, since you have a good CBR subframe, is to get the BMW subframe and seat, then hold it up and compare shape, angle and mounts.
Then cut both, and use the mounts off the CBR to the BMW rear half.
That's basically what I did when I put the GSXR tail on my TLR.

Hardest part is finding someone to weld the alum subframe.

Well, unless the mounts to the main frame are the same, you don't have many options. Especially as both seats attach to the subframe, the odds of anything being close are pretty slime.
A proper weld is stronger than the material around it.
