Hey man what are your initial thought about the Ninja 300?

I am looking at this bike but I've heard it does not have enough power, and that I should go with a 500cc-650cc. I am a little weary about something with too much power as this will be my first motorcycle.

Just wanted to get your thought on the 300 and if you felt it was enough.

I have had my 300 since April. Its my first bike. I will lay it out like this. Its a good bike for a beginner. Plenty of power vs the old 250s. I can dart through traffic and cruise at 70-80 with throttle left on the freeway. I will keep it ... might buy a larger cc bike used down the road. But I am happy with my purchase as I do not need to go 140 down the freeway.

Now..here comes the bomb. If you are wanting to go fast buy a 250 to get use to riding a bike. Then flip it after a couple months. 300s are still too new and you will take a hit unless you find a good deal on a used one. Ride the 250 and make your money back or take a 100-200 loss as long as you dont thrash it. Upgrade to a 600cc or bigger if you feel ready.

It's fine for me... It's also my first motorcycle... ever...

plan on keeping mine for awhile... so I can focus on being a better rider.

I agree with Rowdy76's assessment below...
