Can Mountain Biking make you faster on the Track?

According to Kraze Kris it does. It teaches you how to make minor adjustments, match speed, brake and stay calm not to mention being in better shape for those long endurance stints. Rykoson has been mountain biking with Kris alot lately and it seems like he was way faster at TWS (Texas World Speedway). So I got my mountain bike and hopefully in the next week will have my car squared away to haul my bike to do trails. I have been looking for a fun way to get in shape and I can't think of any better way to have fun than riding with my friends on trails. If the added bonuses are that I am calmer, smoother, and more responsive on the motorcycle track then the benefits really speak for themselves.

I wanted to see who mountain bikes and who wants to start mountain biking a couple times a week. I haven't ever been on a trail so I will be starting out slow and there will be a steep learning and fitness curve ... but I think this could really become something to help the motorcycle racing community.

def seems it helps with cardio of course but even though i know it's a weight difference i feel it helps staying balanced when the bike is moving under you getting unstable

Been Mt Biking (and road biking) for years, a few years really into Adventure Racing too 12+ 24+ hour races and it all helps. I am a much better Mt Biking than track rider LOL.

Want some fun...ride Huntsville State Park, Double Lake Park near Cold Spring or "Warda" out near La Grange

I did a low side on mine last week...a low side at 5 mph really hurts your feelings.

me and jimrad ran from the police on bicycles once, we were flying into a turn full throttle peddling away , we had a good head start because his radar detector warned us though. we were in his neighborhood and didnt expect but we went down a couple gears and started hauling , jimmy knows the neighborhood better so i was following and went too hot into a couple turns and almost lost it. we lost the cop though

A lot of pro racers ride road bikes. So apparently the type guys think it's the go-to exercise for fitness. Not sure about braking and bar inputs, though.

I just started recently, if nothing else the improved fitness and exercising in the heat will help out at the hot trackdays/races. Aside from being tired and grabbing for the clutch only to do a stoppie it's been fun.
