anyone know anything about

oldschool suzuki gs 1000's? Mine seems to be running on 1 cylinder. The carbs have been cleaned by the previous owner but not synched....If I take the pod off #4 carb and hold my hand close to the inlet restricting the airflow the engine will rev some and start to idle smoothly... help! would like to get it running soon

By pod do you mean individual af?-if so & it picks up rpm when closing off the airflow-that means its running lean-maybe blocked jets inside or maybe never jetted for individual filters-either way your best bet would be to take it to a good shop which will have the right tools to get it runing right.I can rec metric motorcycles or motorcycles unlimited

Yes, take it to the shop and have them clean or rebuild it. Check out the sponsors forum.

The shops are like 50 miles away from me. I would love to be able to take it to the shop......But it just me off how I can tune a 500+ horsepower car to run in the 9's and I cant tune a 120 hp bike to run 10 miles an hour......

Take the bowls off the carbs, remove the jets (carefully). Clean out all the passages with some carb cleaner and compressed air. Check float levels, reassemble.
Remove the mixture screws, blow that out also, then reinstall and set them all about 2.5 turns out from lightly seated.
Then see what you got.

all of that was done a month ago or so before i got the bike..i put new plugs in lastnite checked spark on all cylinders all looked about the same. orangeish was kind of expecting a bluish lookin spark.. checked compression as well 120 across all 4. bike has a dyna ignition on it but im not sure which one (small black box) i think it still may have factory coils (yellowish/tan) no markings seen. may have buy new coils and sparkplug caps one is slightly cracked..

old plugs looked like they were fuel fouled after replacing them the bike still only ran on 1 cyl (pipes were cold on 3 of the cyls)

You need a cleaning and a synch. I have all the tools at hand, and have done a bunch of experience with mid 80's bikes. I can talk you thru it if you'd like.

Do not dip the carbs. You'll kill the rubber and gaskets that you don't know how to get out.

I could grab 3 of the 4 header pips and hold onto em after the bike has been lugging /idleing for a good 2-3 mins. The #1 cyl burnt the out of my hand (next time i will use the squirt bottle test).

Took the 3 carbs that weren't running right apart cleaned the jets and sprayed carb cleaner through them and reassembled them. Put em back on and bike now seems to be running better but still rough (all 4 head pipes were burning off oily residue) I think the base 2.5 turns out on the idle mixture screw is way off on my bike seems to be more in the range of 1-1.5 or so.... got to late to keep workin on it.

sol I live on 6th st north 3 blocks from the police station :(

vfr.. Tank was dirty and has a bad kreme job i did put a new filter in first thing when I saw the kreme flaking off.
