Last time we got a hotel every 3 or 4 days to do some laundry and get a real shower, but usually we tried to camp. Probably do the same this time

Have a great trip - yeah the toughest part is getting out of the heat and flatlands of Texas. Its worth it to leave early morning 3am and end early afternoon first day to escape the heat

Glympse and Google "my tracks" are both great apps..kinda like glympse a little more though.

I recommend Unaweep Canyon in Colorado (hwy 145 and 141). A lot of turns and the scenery is awesome. It's like 120miles long with no gas stations or towns, so make sure you're gassed up.
