I was thinking of one of these with the tent straps, but they're pricey

Roadtrips always seem really daunting, but once you're out there it is a blast. It is really satisfying riding a new road that arrived at on your bike.

Have a good trip!

Nothing daunting about it, I am on a road trip with no destination or real timeline. Just a date when I have to be back to work.

There is nothing less stressful than having no plan and all the time you could want to complete that plan.

I should have qualified that: the first road trip seems daunting.

I take the family camping at Guadalupe River State Park every chance I get near San Antonio, between Boerne and Spring Branch off of TX 46..you gotta ride 46 if you have not already done so...it's a great ride/drive, 473 near Sisterdale is another fun ride as well.
My apologies to the OP for the mini thread jack..

How much time do you think it will take to complete this epic ride?

It's not about the time, it's the journey. Everything goes out the window, er visor when traveling. You see something cool, you stop and check it out. A 2 day trip could take weeks. When I drove back to Texas from Quebec I could have made it in 2-3 days if I drove constant. But I stopped at everything that looked interesting, stayed in every state/nation park along the way. Took every back road I could take. Took me almost 2 weeks to get back to Texas, but was totally worth it.

A 23 day ride...wow, just wow.
I can only dream of such things...
Do you camp some or do you get a hotel room?

Trust me, I know the long way home is always the more memorable one, I try to get lost every trip I take...
Just wanted to know how much time he has to enjoy said ride.

Since you're going to Colo and Wyo, ride the Poutre river. Highway 14 out of Fort Collins to the west. Real pretty, lots of sweeping turns.
It's wide, no traffic and good pavement. Go as fast as ya want or take in the scenery.

The only downside is by the time you get to Walden you are in the middle of NOWHERE! Still a great road if you're out that way.
