Nothing to be scared about if you ride within your limits! I pushed it so I paid for it.

Crashing is all part of it, honestly. T10 has claimed a lot of bikes, but generally they're pretty mild wrecks.

Haha that's the my plan. I'm going to go back and make turn 10 my . But yea, push yourself if you want to be fast. If not, just have fun and work on things like body position and braking.

I'll be at TWS (Texas World Speedway) on the 2nd

Yeah i think they recommend like 70-80% of your skill limit at the track, just dont go flying into every turn scared shitless and hoping you may make it out in one piece. get what im saying? push yourself a little to where you are comfortable

If you're going to push yourself, be methodical. Don't just go out, and ride with your hair on fire all over the track. Pick a turn, and push in that ONE turn all session. Or, since TWS (Texas World Speedway) is so big: pick two. Like, 1 and 10. Or wherever you think you're the most deficient.

There is a bump about half way around that turn if you run a bit wide. It unsettled my bike a few times until I tightened up my line. Do you think that may have caused it?

Ouch. That sucks. At least you didn't break any bones.

You should consider a set of race tires/wheels. Chances are that you rolled right off the edge of your street tires.

now that you mention it, I do remember the bump. though, I am not sure it caused it. more than likely just user error.

are race tires wider? how long do they last?

yeah but I mounted it in a new position and I guess I didn't tighten the joints enough so it was just pointed at my feet .

Race tires are not necessarily wider unless you buy wider tires. Some people run 190s on their 600s etc. Their profile is different though. That being said I wouldn't jump to a conclusion you need race tires because of a low side. Race tires have a completely different feel and feedback than DOT tires and its something you have to get used to. I have gone down on Q2s, BT003RS... and they were low sides on both. One was poor body position and the other was cold weather... but I put race slicks on the SV. They gripped like a dream and I was very confident on them but I got headshake on them. I really believe it had to do with the stiffer carcass of the tires as well as the stiffer frame of the SV ( It doesn't flex as much as 600 SS). I had never gotten headshake on that bike until I rode it on slicks and it ended in a tank slapper that chunked me off and landed me in the hospital.

I am not saying that race rubber is a bad idea. More grip = better. Just make sure you have your suspension set for it, remember to either use warmers or take it easy to let your tires warm up properly, and remember that the feel, feedback, grip, steering and everything is different in alot of ways and you need to relearn how to read your tires and account for those differences.
