Official SHNF trails clean-up Aug 17-18 need vol.

One of my supervisors here at Ellington is part of the Trail riders of Houston. They are putting together a trail clean up August 17-18 on the east side trail head behind the trading center. Starts at 8am and there will be free food.

Bring your bikes to ride to clean up location, and something to cut with...machete, shears ect. No power tools

Ill be there the 17th

Hm... if anybody has a beat-to- offroadable bike to loan me, I could help out. Been looking for an excuse to try some dirt riding.

In fact I could probably rustle up one other volunteer if there are two crappy loaners available.

I will find out for sure but there may be a way to help out even if you dont have a bike to get to the part of the trail. The forest rangers are going to open up some of the gates to the fire road off of FM1375 so there may be ppl with pick up trucks driving to the location as well.

If there are any trails wide enough for pickups I could borrow the wife's SUV. It's only been on trails and beach sand a handful of times and I've been meaning to find other trails it can handle...

I dont think so....

FYI there will be pick up trucks and other quads to carry equipment, water and to drop us off at the trail crossings. I plan on bringing my bike, carrying a machete on my backpack.....
