In Texas it is illegal for any supervisor to give another officer an exact number of tickets or arrests. There are no quotas

So they can be vague and just say "You are not bringing in enough tickets, bring up your count or you're fired". No specific numbers given.

Officers meeting - "It is your duty as an officer to bring in some, or ALOT of vehicle citations. Anyone not doing so will be up for review."

Sure, and the Houston Police Officers' Union would go crying to the media

I have no idea what goes on in their meetings, and I am not in the union, or the media. I did however, sleep at a holiday in once.

I think they exists in some places including Texas. Cops have more leniency which is more ironic because I see so many break the law which they swear to uphold. It's about money.

I cant think of the last time I wrote a ticket.....

I worked at a smaller Dept for about 12 yrs, @ 1 time I was told to make more contacts. I wrote zero tix-just warnings, contacted with people who lived in the area to say Hi (which I always did, just never documented).....Chain of Command did not say a word. Im sure back in the old old days, there was quotas, and small Depts like Patton Village got hammered for quotas, but I really dont think anyone in their right mind is going to say write xx tix/mo....

The one thing in the video I agree with 100% is writing indigent people tix and placing a HUGE burden on their household--

7cain was actually stopped one morning not long ago for running a light (5am on Hempstead). Sensor does not work at that time and 7cain had sat there for a few minutes with no cars in the immediate area, just one WAAAAY down the street. It was safe so 7cain went, turned out that car way down the street was an officer. He quickly caught up to me and 7cain pulled over as soon as he flipped his lights on. Walked up to 7cains' window and asked "Alright buddy, what's your excuse for running that light back there?" 7cain explained that 7cain was running late for work and the light was not operating on sensors, never has in the 2 years 7cains' been coming this way. He quickly smiled and said he'll let that go and to be safe. 7cain was very grateful and would have enjoyed a longer convo regardless of being late to work.

Back in 03', I used to date (and live with) a State Trooper out of Tx City... She DEFINITELY had "undocumented" quotas... and not just for tickets... She was expected to bring in a certain amount of DWIs, drug stops/seizures, and ofcourse tickets.... The big one were the drug seizures. He Supervisor (SGT) was a complete head, he hated having women in the dept, he HATED sport bikes and constantly had marks out for sport bike contacts..

When she would turn in "Warnings" as opposed to tickets, she would often be questioned.... Warnings are not state revenue.

She couldn't stand the whole thing, especially the Supervisor, she eventually got out and went to work for the FBI...

I was privy to a lot of behind the scenes info about the Troopers and law enforcement in general... Not ALL of what the general public believes is true about law enforcement (the negative stuff)... but a LOT of it is....

Its all about the revenue..... And "Professional Courtesy" runs rampant in their circles.
