I am guessing the driver probably was intending to make a right turn out of the driveway but freaked out when he/she saw the bike and just froze.

Rider apparently made no attempt to slow down. If he had braked hard like the guy in the "other" thread, he might have either avoided the collision or at least not impact quite that hard. Accident is not his fault, but he definitely was not riding defensively.

I wonder if the kid getting off the bus got hurt by flying bike parts.... He near was in the middle of it himself.
