BMC filter cleaning

ive got a K&N filter cleanin kit i use on my truck, any reason i shouldnt use that on my BMC?

How do you clean a regular filter? Is their a special solvent that needs to be used? I was gonna just soak that in some dish soapy water... am i wrong for doing this?

If it is paper you need to buy a new one.
