Bike hits cager on Mulholland

In a case like this, I can't help but wonder what the cager was thinking. It didn't look like he was turning and he just froze.

Except an Apache helicopter. An Apache helicopter has machine guns AND missiles. It is an unbelievably impressive complement of weaponry, an absolute death machine.

If you listen to one of the witnesses, he says he's complained to the cops about bushes needing to be cut down because of visibility. Driver couldn’t' see the rider when he started pulling out until it was too late. Shouldn't have cut across the road like that

If there is no way that I can avoid the collision, I would aim for the front door and take the driver down with me.

ABS - Would it Have Saved Him? - YouTube
Looks like he intended to make a blind left turn but was overcome with target fixation (the bike).

Wasn't it enough that he removed the entire front bumper cover?

target fixation a little, but I think he did fairly well considering. It would have been really hard to keep leaning and turn while still hard on the brakes which was standing the bike up. He almost made it.

He didn't appear to be going very fast though, I would like to think I could have came to a stop and not needed to swerve.....then get rear ended by a litre bike doing 100

the cager should be glad it was just a bike coming around the bend and not an 18 wheeler

yeah no kidding, and in dangerous (read: blind) situations like this you should always continue down the direction you can enter into (legally and most easily) even if you are heading in your "wrong" direction and then make a uturn when safe so that you can properly begin to get where you're going.

another selfish driver...

That car was trying to pull out and make a left turn across a blind corner - ridiculously bad move. If the bike swerves into the oncoming lane he potentially has a head-on collision with an oncoming car. Both were very lucky

I like the slo mo, you can see the bike just stand there for a second like " wait where'd he go" , then slowly falls over.
